Just a warning: if you’re late for your DMV renewal, they will charge you a $100 late penalty. If you get a ticket while they’re processing your renewal, you will have to pay for the ticket, mail a copy of your registration to the court, or appear in court with your registration. If you don’t receive your renewal prior to your court date, the court will charge you $300 for failure to appear plus $10 processing. This is a really horrible financial loop where the system wins.

I guess the moral of this story is to do your renewals on time and don’t get traffic tickets. You are talking about government regulations and law here, not some corporations company policy. Obey the law like a responsible citizen and you won’t have these issues.

The point is that the system that was slow to issue the renewal led to a total of $400 in charges to the driver.
