Direct TV

SHAME ON YOU, DIRECT TV!!  I was on hold for 20 minutes yesterday while waiting to speak to a Supervisor — and listened to a tape recording touting corporate “HONESTY, INTEGRITY, PROMISES” — Are you SERIOUS????

With the economy the way it is, it’s time the Corporate games STOP! Its time someone slaps your hand and files a class action lawsuit!!! Strangely enough, you offer $50 incentives to bring in new customers — WHY? — I know!! You snag them in and hold them hostage at the service rate YOUR SUITS upstairs DECIDE once their ‘introductory locked in rate’ expires — BUT, dare to leave for the competition and decide to return at a later date, one unknowingly returns with the label “Pre-Existing” Customer — and no longer qualifies for anything but double the rate the new “year/double year locked-in contracts” offered via the internet and elsewhere pay!!

YES! As an honest, fast paying consumer who has consistently been on your books for nearly 8 years straight — I’ve seen my original ‘package deal’ double in price!! YET ironically, the SAME price I originally agreed to pay for the 150+ channel package nearly 8 years ago is STILL OFFERED TODAY!!! BUT — funny thing — I CAN’T PURCHASE IT and LOCK IN THE RATE that is offered all over the internet– WHY IS THAT??? — BECAUSE I’m AN EXISTING CUSTOMER paying for a different labeled package that is no longer offered to new customers!!! Yet, when I asked about changing to the ‘NEW’ package that is offered — I couldn’t believe it –it is offered for a non-locked in rate at $3 more!!! YOU CAN’T BE SERIOUS??? WHAT are you thinking???!!!

I get it — repackage it at the rate 10 years ago — call it something different to your current customers who have no choice but to pay what you tell them to pay (in my case double!!) and no one will be none the wiser!! THEN, contract that newly designed package with nearly the same number of channels out to Verizon, DirectStarTV, etc and let them offer locked in rates to their consumers, while the village idiots continue to pay for those $50 incentive checks sent to the growing DirectTV database of existing customers!!!

Hmmmm… I’m no village idiot… but I’d say that’s what we refer to as PRICE FIXING….. And the last time I looked, that was illegal!!!

Its high time DIRECT TV offers the SAME “ONE and TWO YEAR LOCKED-IN RATES” to EXISTING CUSTOMERS!!

I am writing to you because I think you should make Denver consumers aware of DirecTV’s overcharges, misrepresentation, refusal for refunds, broken equipment.

I have never felt more deceived by a company than I have by DirecTV. I should have researched them further, now finding they have an F rating on BBB. Do your viewers a favor and make they know not to sign a contract or do any business with DirecTV.

They have overcharged me, double charged me, not sign me up for the plan I agreed to, but instead a more expensive one, sent broken equipment not once, but twice, refused refund, blamed me for not catching their overcharges sooner. Sent me broken equipment & then charged me $19.99 shipping so they could send me working equipment. Told me working equipment would arrive in 2 days, now it looking like 4 days.

When I first called to complain
they said I had signed up through a 3rd party that must have made false promises, however the 3rd party never made it known I was not talking directly to DirecTV. When I asked for a refund of overcharges they told me I didn’t have anything in writing with the plan I supposively signed up for so they couldn’t refund it. Right now when I asked for my contract in writing they told me they couldn’t provide anything in writing. You can’t win they will lie to you to get you off the phone.

I’m locked into a 2 year contact at $40/month for each month I cancel early. So cancelling the service is not an option because I’m locked in. I would think if they don’t uphold their end of the
contract I could get out, but that does not seem to be the case.

The first few errors seemed innocent, but the more I talked to people & manager there it appears they are being purposes deceptive and overcharging, putting on add-on charges and refusing refunds. I am fed up and want to make sure no other person in Denver falls for their scams.
